POSSCON In Color

Anybody happen to read about Color yesterday? New photo-sharing app that's raked in like $40 million in VC money? TechCrunch raved about it. Scoble, not so much. So I downloaded it to see what all the fuss was about. Problem is, it's like having one walkie-talkie. It doesn't do jack if no one else near you has it. You can't go add all your Twitter friends or whatever, it's strictly location-based. But.

Tomorrow (Friday) I'm going to be at POSSCON, surrounded by hundreds of other geeks who love to try the new hotness, secretly hoping it doesn't suck, so they can be among of the few, the proud, the early adopters. Hundreds of users to play with. I bet you anything the company is pissed that they didn't have it ready in time for SXSW. It could've really taken off. But now they have us.

So I'm going to be playing with Color at POSSCON on Friday. I'm not some stealth social media evangelist and they certainly aren't giving me any of that VC cash. I'm just sitting at home bored instead of out getting schnockered with GitHub, and I came up with this experiment. Join me, install the thing, use it at POSSCON and let's find out if it's worth the 40 mil, or the bubble has finally jumped the shark. Mixaphorically speaking.

See you tomorrow.
